Viktor Orban (BETAPHOTO/MILOS MISKOV)
The president of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party, Milos Vucevic, on March 20 called on Serbian citizens of Hungarian ethnicity to vote for Fidesz, the party of incumbent Prime Minister Viktor Orban, in the April 12 general election in Hungary.
"I do not hide it, the Serbian Progressive Party is wholeheartedly rooting for Fidesz's victory. We are rooting for Orban to win on April 12 and we call on all citizens in Serbia, who are eligible to vote in Hungary because they hold Hungarian citizenship, to turn out to vote," Vucevic told Pink TV.
He added that he knew that stance was shared by the Progressives' coalition partner, the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians, and that he believed in the victory of Fidesz in that election.
"I think Orban's victory is the guarantee of the best possible relations between Serbia and Hungary," said Vucevic.
