The Serbian Cabinet  has passed a decision on extending a ban on oil and petroleum product exports to April 2, 2026, the Ministry of Mining and Energy said on March 19.

"The ban pertains to exports of diesel, gasoline and crude oil by any means of transport, and we have extended it as one measure to protect citizens and businesses from rising oil prices on the global market which is still happening," Minister of Energy and Mining Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic said.

She added that a decision had been reached "to release 40,000 tons of diesel from reserves, as an additional measure to protect the market, which will be realized in the coming days." The objective of measures such as lowering excise on fuel by 20%, she said, is to protect the domestic market from shortages of petroleum products and soaring prices caused by global market disturbances resulting from the conflict in the Middle East and an increase in oil prices of 40 percent.
