Serbia has harmonized with two new foreign policy decisions of the EU Council, pertaining to Hamas and the situation in Sudan, but is the only EU member candidate from the Western Balkans that has not harmonized with the EU Council’s new decision on Ukraine.

EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Josep Borrell announced on July 18 that Serbia had not harmonized with the Council’s decision of June 28, on restrictive measures against actions that undermine or threat the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.

All the EU member candidates from the Western Balkans have harmonized with the new decision of the EU Council, except Serbia – North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina – which will bring their national policies into accord, and the EU acknowledges that commitment and welcomes it, the statement reads. Serbia, together with other EU member candidates from the Western Balkans – North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina – has harmonized with the EU Council’s decision passed on June 28, on restrictive measures against those who assist the violent actions of Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

Serbia has also harmonized with the June 24 decision of the Council of the EU, on restrictive measures against undermining the stability and political transition in Sudan. All the member candidate countries in the Western Balkans – North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia – will make sure their national policies are in accord, and the EU acknowledges that commitment and welcomes it, it was declared in the statement.
