On Aug. 12, the Social Democratic Party’s legal team offered free legal aid to all the arrested participants of the Belgrade rally against lithium mining and called on the jailed individuals’ families to contact the party.
“Representatives of the Social Democratic Party were on the streets with the people on [Aug. 10] and we believe that we should be united not only in fighting the destruction of the environment but also in the legal battle of those who were arrested at the protests,” the party stated.
Leading the Social Democrats is Boris Tadic, who served two terms as president of Serbia, between 2004 and 2012.
