The NATO mission in Kosovo, Kosovo Force (KFOR) promised on Aug. 14 that it remained committed to the security of all communities living in Kosovo, and that it would not hesitate to respond to "any developments."
"We have a visible and flexible presence across Kosovo, and the KFOR commander has the authority to adjust it as needed, and will not hesitate to react to any security developments in accordance with our UN mandate," the statement said. KFOR reiterated that a decision to open the bridge over the Ibar River in Kosovska Mitrovica should be made within the framework of political dialogue.
"We can reconfirm that any decision regarding the bridge over the Ibar River must be made through political dialogue and in a coordinated manner," KFOR stated, calling for restraint from "unilateral actions that could create tensions."
"KFOR is equipped and well-positioned to take all necessary measures to continue fulfilling the mission mandated by the UN," the statement reads.
