The European Union's special representative for talks between Belgrade and Pristina, Miroslav Lajcak , said in Pristina, on Sept. 6, that Serbia had withdrawn last year’s letter to the European Union (EU), voicing reservations regarding the Agreement on the Path to the Normalization of Relations between Serbia and Kosovo, and its Implementation Annex.

In the letter, which was sent to the EU last December, then prime minister Ana Brnabic stated that the Agreement "is considered acceptable only in the context of not referring to the de facto and de jure recognition of Kosovo." After a meeting with Kosovo's Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi in Pristina, Lajcak said that Serbia had withdrawn the letter and that the Agreement and the Implementation Annex, agreed upon in Brussels and Ohrid in February and March last year, were legally binding, Radio Free Europe reported.

"The Ohrid Agreement is legally binding, and we are working on its implementation. Neither party has withdrawn from the agreement, and we are discussing with Kosovo and Serbia how to accelerate its implementation," Lajcak said.

Lajcak also said that an agreement had been reached for a new round of talks between Belgrade's and Pristina's chief negotiators Petar Petkovic and Bislimi, but he declined to specify when the meeting would take place.
