Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Sept. 15 that Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija were not living in the conditions that Europeans had guaranteed with their signatures and then failed to deliver.

"Serbs are not living in the conditions that Europeans and some others are accustomed to, in conditions that those very Europeans and some others guaranteed with their seals and signatures, and then did not deliver," Vucic said at a reception for elementary school students and teachers and municipal heads from Republika Srpska and Montenegro in honor of the Day of Serb Unity, Freedom and the National Flag.

He added that "our brothers and sisters in Kosovo and Metohija rejoice together with us today" and stressed that it was "to them, before anyone else" that he sent his warm regards and congratulations on the holiday. "They earned it. They have suffered the most and I know that they will have to endure a lot more. But they will always have their Serbia, their state, and us standing by them," Vucic said.

He stressed that "history teaches the Serb people that when it stands together, there is no obstacle that it cannot overcome, so let this day be a reminder that our strength lies in unity and that, like our ancestors in the past, we will hold our heads high, ready for any challenge."
