On Sept. 23, the National Assembly of Serbia commenced a sitting with the agenda including a revision of the state budget for this year. The rebalance envisions an increase in revenues to RSD2,173.4 billion (some EUR20 billion), which is 6.5 percent higher than in the original budget.
The proposed revisions also entail an increase in the fiscal deficit for 2024 from 2.2 to 2.9 percent of the GDP, because the new budget’s expenditures would also be raised by RSD198 billion.
MPs will also discuss amendments to the Law on Financial Aid to Families with Children, which envisions larger payouts to parents for children born as of Jan. 1, 2025. Namely, the sum granted for firstborn children would be RSD500,000 (cc. EUR4,200), RSD600,000 (cc. EUR5,000) for second-born children, RSD2.28 million (EUR20,000) for third-born children and RSD3.18 million (some EUR27,000) for fourth-born children.
