Management of all waiting lists for healthcare required additional funds, and therefore it was necessary to wait for President Aleksandar Vucic to return from New York as he was the man who “had secured the state budged and stability,” Health Minister Zlatibor Loncar told TV Pink on Sept. 24.
Loncar said that clearing the waiting lists required procurement of additional prostheses and medical supplies and payment to doctors who would be working weekends, which, he stressed, would cost additional money.
“I am not ashamed to say that I am waiting for the president to come back. He has authority. I need his support. Additional funds are needed as this cannot be covered from the existing funds, but some people do not understand that,” Loncar specified.
He also said that healthcare systems across the globe were faced with the challenge of waiting lists and waiting times, noting that Serbia had been struggling with this problem for decades now.
