A vice president of the Movement for the Restoration of the Kingdom of Serbia (POKS), Vladimir Djordjevic, has called on citizens to join the educators taking to the streets on Nov. 1, because if there is no justice for the people, there should be no peace for the government either.
"Educators have heralding new protests and strikes to continue their struggle. They are taking to the streets, and will shorten their lessons. Not everyone will support it, because 'the children are taking the consequences.' That might be true, but if we want to be completely honest and realistic, the children are not suffering because of the teachers' strike. It is rather a good example, if you will, to show the children that they must fight for the right things, that there is no giving up, no fear, and that tomorrow they must stand up for themselves," he said in a statement.
The opposition politician also said that the children were suffering because the state was ruined, because their parents were forced to take loans "just to provide a few days of outdoor schooling, to clothe and feed them." Djordjevic argued that that no one is Serbia was partially vulnerable, but that vulnerability was ubiquitous – "education, healthcare, agriculture, the economy, even the church – everything is usurped."
"That's why we need to invite everyone to this protest, to support each other, and to break the chains that make the world see us as puppets in the hands of one man," Djordjevic concluded.
