Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Dec. 1 that, after a recent explosion at the Ibar-Lepenac canal outside Zubin Potok in northern Kosovo and Metohija that "an attempt at a big and fierce hybrid attack on Serbia has taken place."

Addressing journalists at the Serbian Presidency building, Vucic said statements from Pristina officials and "their international sponsors and those on their payroll to advocate their policies and media" were closely followed. "We did not have the opportunity to hear many facts," he said.

Vucic said Serbia had certain suspicions about who committed the act and was conducting its own investigation, but that no public announcements would be made until it ended. According to him, Serbia was fair and serious and did not sling accusations or directly accuse Kosovo Premier Albin Kurti of the attack.

Pristina "at first blush immediately accused Belgrade and Serbia of being behind it. Belgrade and Serbia knew nothing about it and no one need worry, there is nothing, because you cannot prove a negative," Vucic said.
