Belgrade Mayor Aleksandar Sapic on Dec. 3 said he would retire from political life at the end of his current term as the chief of Serbia’s capital city.
Speaking to state public broadcaster RTS, Sapic said he had been prepared to take up the post of Belgrade mayor after having acquired rich experience serving as the head of the capital’s municipality of New Belgrade.
„And now, on the 111th day of my second term, I am continuing to run the city and oversee project realization, with social security and public transport set as my priorities. At the end of this term, I think it will be enough for me,” Sapic noted.
Asked whether he had been done “with Belgrade or politics in general,” Sapic replied “with politics.”
“At this moment I am not interested in daily approval ratings. I believe that I can use my knowledge, experience and political courage to the benefit of Belgraders,” he said.
