In the evening on Jan. 20, the police arrested a person with initials Z. Lj. (2006), who had physically attacked the protesting students, biting one’s arm. The incident occurred outside the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Applied Studies in Belgrade.

Z. Lj. was writing three insulting graffiti on the school building using red paint. The security, together with students, tried to hold him back, but he hit one student in the stomach, while hitting the other in the head and biting into his arm. Then, several other persons, fellows of Z. Lj., showed up, but were all removed from the scene, according to a release from the Interior Ministry.

Shortly, the police identified and arrested Z.Lj., who has been ruled up to 48 hours in detention, and will face a criminal complaint at the Prosecutor’s office. He is charged with violence and destroying property of another.
The same night, the school’s student plenum informed the public of the incident, calling on faculties, student organizations and individuals to join them outside the school at 11.52 am on Jan. 21, to together demonstrate solidarity, unity and persistence in fight for the rights of all students.

According to students, they were attacked in the evening on Jan. 20 by unknown persons, who were drawing the red painted middle fingers on the school’s wall, “obviously with the intention of provoking the protesting students.” The students have also published video footage of the incident.
