A general strike, i.e. "general civil disobedience," which the students blocking faculties had called on citizens to take part in, started in Serbia on Jan. 24.

Numerous companies, associations, political parties, and media outlets have announced they support the action, including BETA News Agency.

According to announcements, the paying of a 15-minute silent tribute to the victims of the Nov. 1 Novi Sad railway station accident will continue at multiple locations in Serbia at 11:52 a.m., after which a general strike will take place.

Lawyers will also hold a protest rally outside the Presidency building on Andricev Venac street on Jan. 24, against the way Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has been insulting them lately.

Vucic will in Jagodina, in the afternoon, hold a first rally of the Serbian Progressive Party at which he will unveil the details about a new movement he is planning on forming.Students Organize General Strike in Serbia on Jan. 24
