On April 16, the SRCE Serbia Center party urged Serbian Broadcasting Corporation employees to go on general strike as soon as possible, saying this would be a reasonable and responsible step.
According to the party's press release, protesting university students believe the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation is one of the key obstacles to the fulfillment of their demands and relativizes the civic and student rebellion.
"Are all [Serbian Broadcasting Corporation] workers aware of their responsibility in the events to come? As time goes by, the awakening of journalists and other employees at the [Serbian Broadcasting Corporation] will be increasingly more painful and complicated, but it will have to happen at some point. One of the most important tasks of the future interim expert government of the people's trust, aside from preparing a fair election, will be to redefine the status of all media companies that have national frequencies, including the [Serbian Broadcasting Corporation]," SRCE believes.
Late on April 14, students blocked entrances into the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation building and announced they would remain there until further notice, that is, until "a new contest is called for members of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media, or until the [Serbian Broadcasting Corporation] is shut down."
