Thousands of protesters, including numerous students, marched through the streets of Belgrade on May 30 demanding that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic call an early parliamentary election.

Earlier in May, protesting students called for a snap election after the government failed to meet their demands for accountability for the deadly collapse of a concrete overhang at the Novi Sad railway station in November 2024. At the May 30 demonstration, protesters chanted "We want elections" in front of the Serbian government headquarters and the prosecutor's office.

The demands of the protesting students include the prosecution of those responsible for attacking students, that charges against a number of arrested students be dropped, and that the reported use of a sound cannon against protesters at a massive protest in March be dropped. On May 5 they demanded early parliamentary elections.
