Local Elections Held in Two Serbian Towns

Regular local elections took place in Zajecar and Kosjeric on June 8.

In Zajecar, citizens voted for the appointment of 50 councilors to the city assembly, and in Kosjeric for 27 councilors in the municipal assembly.

The total number of voters in Zajecar was 47,353, while there are 8,897 names in the electoral roll in Kosjeric. Eight tickets competed in Zajecar and three in Kosjeric.

The CRTA Center for Research, Transparency and Accountability Center observer mission said in a press release that a high voter turnout was recorded in Kosjeric and Zajecar and that multiple issues had been noted in Zajecar, including the number, or frequency of incidents, and the severity of the irregularities.
