Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic thanked on June 9 the citizens of Kosjeric and Zajecar for the "tremendous trust" they expressed in the local elections held on June 8, and invited everyone "who think differently, at any level" to engage in talks and pursue agreements.

"The more common denominators we can find, the better it will be for our country. If some don't want that, it's still fine. We will keep winning, and people will understand who wanted dialogue and who didn’t. We have only one homeland and we must live together," Vucic said in a message on social media.

The president said he was asking all people, regardless of the political option they support, to unite and focus on Serbia’s interests, so that citizens can live better lives, and that the country's image in the world can be improved.

Vucic said that the elections in Kosjeric and Zajecar were ended after "many months of terror on the streets, illegal and unlawful behavior, suppression of rights and freedoms of all who think differently."

The president of the Serbian Progressive Party, Milos Vucevic, stated that in the local elections in Zajecar and Kosjeric, the party achieved a "great victory under almost impossible conditions."

"It was literally an occupation and usurpation, preventing citizens from exercising their right to vote, guaranteed by the Constitution," Vucevic said in an address from the Progressives’ headquarters in Belgrade. According to him, the election silence had been violated, the campaign headquarters attacked, polling stations blocked and pressure on voters exercised, for which, as he said, the same people who had been leading the blockades across Serbia for the past seven months were responsible.
