President Aleksandar Vucic on June 17 dismissed criticism over Serbia’s sale of arms and ammunition to Ukraine and Israel, noting that Belgrade was selling military equipment to all states - “the Jewish, Muslim, Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox” countries.
“It is our business which we make a living from. And those critical views such as: ‘That is used in war’. No, it is used in a theater! It is of course used in war. And even when not used directly in war, it is used indirectly when procured by a third country, which then sells its own arms to a particular country, while keeping ours for its own needs. So, it is indirectly used in armed conflicts,” Vucic told state public broadcaster RTS.
Those critical of this type of export business Vucic branded as “worrywarts lecturing others, and leftist and hippie movements”, wishing for Serbia to be surviving on “chewing grass.”
“There are many people who love to put just some grass on their plates, as that is apparently the best food in the world. I am a rustic spirit, I eat meat,” Vucic said.
