Belgrade Court of Appeal Judge Miodrag Majic has said, commenting on the increased engagement of the Security Information Agency ahead of the student-organized protest in Belgrade on June 28, that the Agency's calls they are being exposed to are "a kind of intimidation."
"We've never had in a particular period so many reports and accusations of endangerment of the constitutional order," Majic told Insajder, adding that the Agency and "very severe incriminations" were being reached for excessively.
He went on to say that the recent instances of pro-government media publishing personal information of the judges who annulled the local elections in Kosjeric, which the authorities claim to have won, were "a new level of pressure on the judiciary," adding that he expected that to repeat increasingly frequently.
"Now everything is becoming more bare, becoming more visible. It's nothing new, but we see that the authorities cannot even bear the very thought of an independent judiciary," said Majic.
Regarding a statement signed by 120 judges on June 24, who for the first time called for the resignations of members of the High Judicial Council and the president of the Supreme Court of Serbia, Majic said that it was "an extremely relevant number" and stressed that for the first time judges were asking that their colleagues, who were supposed to be their representatives and protectors, resign because they were not doing their job.
