The Network of Academic Solidarity and Engagement on July 30 condemned "private, masked and violent security" forcing its way into the State University of Novi Pazar building, stating that violence and repression against the university leadership would drive the students "from the country they are fighting for."
The Network "lends its full support to the students of the [State University of Novi Pazar] and all universities to persevere in their fight for a free Serbia, which at the moment looks more like it is under siege from within by a clientelist party, than like a functional state of law," the press release read.
The organization said "violent persons under police protection" had forced their way into the University, and that the police then, "under the pretext of introducing order, prevented the students from returning to the University building, protecting the thugs who remained there." Unidentified persons forced their way into the State University of Novi Pazar building on July 29 and ejected the students, injuring some in the process.
