The vice-president of the opposition Free Citizens Movement, Aris Movsesijan, said on Sept. 22 that Serbia's European path and decentralization were common values that both the protesting students and opposition actors advocated.

As a guest on a show on Nova S TV, Movsesijan said that the opposition supported the ongoing civil protests but was not interfering in their organization. "We did not push to be at the front, rather we respected the request that we sometimes even be invisible. We believe that political organizations should not impose, but rather follow and support what is an expression of the will of the citizens," the Free Citizens Movement quoted him as saying.

The party's statement reads that students are fighting in their own way, while opposition political parties "should stay alive" and cooperate with each other.

"We believe that every grain in the opposition has its value, that it is important we do not lose anyone. Although we do not agree on all policies, there are fundamental values we share - the pro-European policy, modernization and building a democratic system. Serbia does not live in isolation, our aim is to make it a part of the European family. That is why what matters more than the names themselves are the values those people stand for and whether they are ready to implement them," added Movsesijan.
