Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic told Newsmax's U.S. office in New York on Sept. 26 that there was no country where U.S. President Donald Trump was more popular than in Serbia.
"Serbia is a country where President Trump's popularity is huge. It is at a very high level and no other country comes close. I am not saying this to flatter President Trump. Of course we can't fully agree on everything he says, it's just to illustrate the atmosphere in our country," Vucic said.
Vucic, who is in New York for a session of the U.N. General Assembly, said he was "very happy" after a meeting between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Aug. 15 because he believed that the end of the war in Ukraine was much closer.
"I think so now, too -- that we are at least a little closer to an end. But after that the media here attacked President Trump terribly -- the leftist media and politicians of that orientation immediately began to attack him because he looked like a weak person. But no, he looked like the strongest president in the world. True strength is not in forcing someone to do something, it is organizing something and giving us peace. And that was the true intention of President Trump," Vucic said.
