Members of the Gendarmerie on Oct. 11 grabbed BETA and Autonomija reporter Dalibor Stupar's phone and manhandled him as he was recording the assemblies of regime followers who were bussed to Novi Sad.
"A member of the Gendarmerie grabbed my phone and drove me off as I was filming a citizen being taken into custody. I said I wasn't obstructing anything and was standing alone in an open area. Then they forced me behind the cordon and returned my phone. Even though I had a yellow vest and journalist markings, and even though I told him I was a reporter, he said that he didn't care and that I had no right to obstruct procedures," Stupar recounted.
The Gendarmerie roughed up people attending a protest against pro-regime rallies at the invitation of Novi Sad citizen assemblies. They pushed multiple people roughly, hit them, threw aside their scooters and bicycles and would not allow them to block intersections and prevent buses driving in regime followers to pass.
The pro-regime rallies Citizens against Blockades took place at three locations in Novi Sad on Oct. 11. Novi Sad citizen assemblies on the other hand staged rallies close to those locations to show the regime followers that they were not welcome.
