The resolution on Serbia adopted by the European Parliament in Strasbourg on Oct. 22 is a “political pamphlet” full of untruths, Serbian Interior Minister and deputy Prime Minister Ivica Dacic said on Oct. 23.

Speaking for the RTS public broadcaster, Dacic refuted the resolution’s claims and was especially vocal in denying its allegations of police misconduct.

The Socialist leader went on to dub parts of the resolution “blatant lies” and concluded that the document as a whole was based on “certain opinions from within Serbia.”

Underlining that the resolution is not binding, Dacic likened the document to a community bulletin board where anyone can post whatever they please.

The adopted “European Parliament resolution on the polarization and increased repression in Serbia, one year after the Novi Sad tragedy” condemned Serbia’s current regime and, among other things, insisted on the public’s right to protest and the need for “free and fair elections.”
