Serbian Dveri Movement presidency member Gordana Marinkovic Savovic said on Oct. 30 that five of the largest unions in Serbia, whose representativeness had not been checked for decades, needed to be dismantled and new ones created in their place.
She said that the representatives of the five largest unions had allegedly agreed on two new bills – on labor and strikes, but that they had been unable to agree on one key thing to them – the percentage that determined who was representative at all.
“The truth is simple: these unions no longer represent workers, but themselves. This is why it is time to disband existing unions and create new ones that are truly representative – one for each area, including education,” she said.
