Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has said that late on Nov. 13 he talked for three hours with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron about "all the strategic matters," including joint investments, the building of nuclear power plants and the Belgrade metro, military technical cooperation, and cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence.

"Of course, we talked about Serbia's European path, that we can do much over the next year and it is up to us, but I believe that the mood in the European Union will be such that Serbia is enabled [to make] that progress," said Vucic.

He also said that Serbia was buying a supercomputer from the French, which would be very valuable and the only one of its kind in Southeast Europe.

On Dec. 15, Serbia will sign the final commercial contract on the construction of the first line of the Belgrade subway with French company Alstom, said Vucic.

"So, we are wrapping up that deal within the next month or going into finalization so that in two and a half years we have the first metro line, two and half or three, doesn't matter, but Belgrade is finally getting the metro," he said.
