Serbian Prime Minister Djuro Macut on Dec. 9 said that the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption had submitted more than 5,000 asset disclosure statements over the past year alone, and more than 97,000 in 15 years since its inception, adding that it had carried out hundreds of supervision and control procedures.
“The Serbian Government will continue to support all processes contributing to a more transparent, responsible and stable institutional environment, along with its obligation to raise standards every day, strengthen the trust of citizens and create a society where integrity is the norm, while abuse is the exception,” Macut told a conference marking 15 years of developing anti-corruption instruments based on international institutional cooperation.
Macut also said that combating corruption was the foundation of every serious and responsible society, adding he hoped to see more cooperative effort and concrete results next year, according to a release by the Serbian Government.
“We particularly appreciates the contribution of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, which is marking its 15th anniversary, as well as the long-standing support of international partners, primarily the OSCE, which have been an important pillar in building strong and sustainable mechanisms,” Macut told the conference devoted to International Anti-Corruption Day.
