Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced on Feb. 20 that he had talked with European Commission Director-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations Gert Jan Koopman in Belgrade about Serbia's European path, reform processes and advancement of cooperation with the European Union.
In an Instagram post, Vucic wrote that he and Koopman had also discussed a "set of judicial laws."
"Our goal is to expedite reforms in the area of rule of law and improve legal solutions, in line with the best European standards, taking care of the interests of our citizens and the stability of the legal system," reads the post.
Vucic added that Belgrade was doing everything to accelerate preparations for the opening of the remaining clusters of negotiating chapters.
"I am grateful to Director Koopman for his personal engagement and support. I expect continued constructive cooperation with European institutions, with the clear aim of Serbia's membership in the EU," said the Serbian president.
