Political consultant Dusan Lj. Milekovic has said that the regime "is coming apart at the seams" and that "in the past nine months it has crossed into the phase of limitless crime (and criminals)," but that this was not a consolidation but an indicator that it had lost all of its other abilities.
"There is always the option of the regime retaining power through violence, that is growing from an autocracy into a dictatorship or even fascism. I cannot say which we are closer to, but the key determinant for further development is the resistance of the majority in Serbia. I am not saying only resistance in the streets but a collective effort and motivation to restore democracy in Serbia," Milenkovic told the March 5 edition of the Vreme weekly.
He said that the "the most difficult scenario for the anti-Vucic forces would be the merger of presidential and legislative elections, be that this year or the next" and that he believed that "this is exactly what is going to happen." According to him the best scenario for these forces is an early parliamentary election before presidential elections in 2027, which would give them "a clear path to changing the address of power in this society, even though Vucic would remain in the position of president."
