Aleksandar Vucic (BETAPHOTO/MILOS MISKOV)
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on April 18, on the 13th anniversary of the Brussels Agreement, that the period had been marked by "lies," and that Pristina would never establish the Community of Serb Municipalities, envisaged by the deal.
Kosovo online reported that Vucic told the website in an interview that, like today, it was the future that he was focused on at the time of the signing, that he wanted good relations with the Albanians and believed that their sole goal "was not just to expel Serbs, but that they wanted peace and stability."
He went on to say that he was wrong, stating that "that was not what they wanted, and even less what those who forced Belgrade to go through everything wanted." Vucic also said he felt "shame" over six of the ten items of the Brussels Agreement dealing with the founding of the Community of Serb Municipalities not being met, noting that he did not believe that it was his shame but of "those who guaranteed it -- the European Union." He said that it had been 13 years of lies.
He went on to say that it was all "games" with just one final purpose -- for Serbia to recognize Kosovo as independent both de jure and ultimately de facto. He went on to say that he was certain that Pristina would not form the Community of Serb Municipalities, claiming that he expected some "half-friends" to invite him to joint meetings and propose for it not to be the Community but something similar, again under the Kosovo system.
