Political analyst Cvijetin Milivojevic said on May 28 that only a catch-all ticket can defeat Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic's ticket, as "Vucic has been coming out with catch-all tickets for 14 years."
"No ideological, partisan or any other kind of ticket can win, even names and surnames are not too important. It is important that there is something for everyone. Like Vucic's ticket consists of Seselj's radicals, through the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians, Usame Zukorlic to some extreme Serbian nationalists, leftists and rightists," Milivojevic told Nedeljnik.
He said that the two main student messages were fighting corruption and checking the origin of property, while the third main message was changing the system. "Those who support a potential student ticket and even representatives of opposition parties, i.e. voters for opposition parties which have been calculating whether they support elections now or a little later out of their own slightly egotistical reasons, can now find themselves in this," Milivojevic said.
A "catch-all" party or coalition is one that is not ideologically strictly or clearly defined, but seeks to envelop the largest number of voters of various ideological profiles or other qualities, with the help of a populist narrative.
