Freedom and Justice Party Vice-President Marinika Tepic said on June 18 that the choice between the rebel students and the opposition is "an artificially imposed dilemma."

"No, the only solution is for the students and us and all who are in the opposition front, for each to contribute in their own way. The Freedom and Justice Party respects the student movement and their role in waking up society, but political parties have an obligation to take responsibility for political processes," Tepic said in an interview with the Vreme weekly.

She went on to say that since its founding the party has been pro-European and that it is natural for it to participate in talks on the rallying of forces that share pro-European values, for the purpose of jointly running in elections.

"Several hundred thousand citizens of Serbia believe, like we do, that Serbia's membership in the European union is the strategic interest of our country, and they have a right to political representation. We are not making the decision on running in elections either because of the students or against the students, but rather because of [our] responsibility to the citizens of Serbia," said Tepic.
