The New Democratic Party of Serbia condemned in a press release issued on June 24 "the illegal and inhumane pressure" they report is being exerted on employees by the leaderships of local governments, the directors of state-owned, public and also certain privately-owned companies to attend a rally to be held by the Serbian Progressive Party on June 27.
"The mass pressure is taking the form of a 'stick and carrot policy,' wherein whoever signs up to attend the rally is promised an increase in their salary calculation multipliers or a promotion, while those who refuse are threatened with not having their fixed-term contracts extended or being transferred to a worse job, with some even being threatened with firing," the press release read.
The party stressed in the statement that "the highest pressure to date, followed by refusals of increasingly more employees to participate" is evidence of the regime's crisis expanding and the supposed mass support boiling down to "bare coercion." "We urge the employees to document all threats and instances of blackmail and pressure they are exposed to as they will be part of evidence in proceedings that will inevitably ensue," the New Democratic Party of Serbia said.
