Serbia's President Vucic  announced his ⁠resignation

Serbia's ‌President Aleksandar Vucic announced his ⁠resignation on Sept. 27, ending his second and final five-year ‌term ⁠and paving the way ⁠for early presidential elections.

Vucic said on Sept. 27 that he has served the motherland faithfully, honorably and honestly and that he is proud to have done so, going on to say that the upcoming parliamentary election will be historic and will determine Serbia's path.

Vucic stressed in a statement to the RTS public service broadcaster before his announcement of resignation that he performed the most honorable job in the world. Asked if he believes he has been the president of all citizens, Vucic said he was a president who worked diligently, who fought, who served his country and his citizens faithfully. Vucic, who heads the Serbia United ticket, said his strategy is one of silent presidential elections, adding that this should have been clear to everyone six months ago.

This strategy is a political and technological model in which the campaign for head of state is conducted indirectly, in the shadow of other electoral processes or through campaigning while serving in another office, to reduce the mobilization of the opposition, dampen public pressure and ensure a controlled transition of power.

Several hours before his announced resignation, he said that more than a month will pass from the parliamentary election before a presidential vote is scheduled, as the campaign for president is shorter. "There will be time for that. I am asking for total focus, absolute concentration on the aspiration for parliamentary elections, for victory. That is what is important, because the parliamentary election will determine Serbia's path," Vucic said.
