As part of the Rijeka 2020 - European Capital of Culture project in the Croatian town a large exhibition of its urban history called Fiume Fantastika: Phenomena of the City has opened.

The exhibition is located in the Eksportdrvo company's former port warehouse and it deals with the last 150 years of Rijeka's urban history during which the city, according to the organizers, has grown to become a global transportation and industrial hub.

The exhibition will last until Dec. 1 while four more, smaller exhibitions can also bee seen in the same building as part of the Rijeka 2020 - European Capital of Culture project.

Rijeka was picked as this year's European Capital of Culture but due to the coronavirus epidemic many programs and events have been either postponed or canceled. The European Commission proposed on Aug. 19 that Rijeka, like Galway, Ireland be allowed to keep the title of European Capital of Culture 2020 until Apr. 30, 2021.
