The president of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals Graciela Gatti Santana stated in Potocari on July 11 that this day marked a watershed moment in marking the Srebrenica genocide, because the resolution on Srebrenica, recognizing July 11 as the International Day of Remembrance of Genocide, had been adopted in the United Nations.

“The Hague tribunal and the Mechanism have convicted seven high-ranking military and political officials of genocide. Although the Mechanism has concluded the cases connected with the principal crime, I am convinced that domestic judiciary would continue to seek accountability and that impunity will not prevail,” she said in her address at the commemoration for the Srebrenica victims.

The Montenegrin minister for European affairs, Maida Gorcevic, stated during the commemoration that “denying the truth about the past means denying a carefree future.” Homage was paid to the Srebrenica victims in many cities in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but there was no day of mourning because the Serb ministers in the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina voted against that.
