Foreign Minister of Slovenia Tanja Fajon stated in Brussels on April 3 that she would warn the NATO allies about the situation in the Western Balkans at the meeting of the member countries’ foreign ministers, and that she was closely monitoring the events in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Kosovo.

On arriving to the two-day ministerial meeting at NATO headquarters, Fajon told reporters that the alliance should not neglect the Western Balkans, but continue its engagement in that politically unstable region. “I will also focus on the Western Balkans, which is Slovenia’s immediate neighbor. We are monitoring the events in Serbia and Bosnia, and in Kosovo after the elections,” Fajon stated.

She said that Slovenia was “very closely” monitoring the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, adding that she wanted the country to stay on the European path and be a country without tension.

“We wish to see a country that is stable and whose leadership is committed to European reforms. Slovenia is offering support to Bosnia and wishes it to stay on the European path, to be a country without tension, because we live in a time when we need to see strong leadership, committed to the safety and well-being of the citizens,” Fajon said.
