The Republika Srpska Assembly will hold a special session in Banjaluka on Aug. 22 where delegates will review the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina's sentencing of Milorad Dodik to one year in prison and banning him from performing political office as well as a decision by the Central Electoral Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to end his presidential mandate.
According to a decision reached during a telephone session of the Assembly's collegium on Aug. 21, the entity Assembly will take a stance on the future activities of RS institutions and RS Premier Radovan Viskovic's resignation.
Delegates will also vote on amendments and supplements to the Law on Referendums and Citizen Initiatives and adopt a decision on holding a referendum on Dodik's sentencing and the Central Electoral Commissions decision to strip him of his presidential mandate.
The ruling coalition in RS has decided to hold the referendum on Oct. 18 or Oct. 25 leaving enough time for the amendments to the Law on Referendums and Citizen Initiatives as well as its decision on holding a referendum to pass through all levels of decision-making.
