President of North Macedonia Gordana Siljanovska Davkova announced on Sept. 25 that she told the EU’s foreign minister, Kaja Kallas, “about the need to finally put an end to double standards, because they are neither Europe’s manner nor value, but anti-European behavior.”
Siljanovska Davkova wrote in a post on her official Facebook profile that she stated this during the working meeting for Western Balkan leaders organized by EU High Representative for Foreign Police and Security Kaja Kallas in New York.
“I reminded her that Western Balkans’ integration into the EU was crucial not only as the enlargement process, but as a fundamental reintegration of the region with Europe, where we have always belonged – culturally and historically. That is the cure for security dilemmas and new divisions that are already on the horizon,” stated the president of North Macedonia.
She added that she believed the EU, like it has in difficult times in the past, would show creativity and unity. “It is important that Western Balkans is perceived as a whole and, if there are discrepancies in progress between the countries, this could cause more division instead of unification,” Siljanovska Davkova stated.
