The EU Has Donated EUR610m to Montenegro Since 2007.

The EU has given aid worth EUR610m to Montenegro since 2007, according to official data. 

The daily Dnevne Novine reports that the EU posted this information on its Montenegrin Facebook page, with a comment that the EU is the biggest donor and investor in Montenegro, as conveyed by the portal CdM. 

Out of that EUR610m, a third of the money came from additional EU grants, whereas in individual terms the EU donated the most to the transportation sector – EUR76.3m, and to the environmental and climate protection sector – 75.6m. 

EUR70.9m was donated to the area of democratic administration, while 70.3m went into strengthening the rule of law. 

Social policy strengthening was backed with EUR49.9m, while competitiveness and innovation got 24.3m.
