After the North Macedonian Central Bank withdrew the Eurostandard Bank AD Skopje’s license, the bank’s savings account holders were thrown into a panic because they cannot withdraw their money after over 100,000 accounts were blocked, SeeBiz has reported. The Central Bank stripped the bank of its license for not respecting minimum business requirements.
The country’s central bank released a statement saying that stripping the Eurostandard Bank of its license would not threaten the stability of the banking system, as the bank only held 1.3% of total property, 1.7% of deposits and 1.6% of loans. Eurostandard was placed under strict supervision over the past several months due to business risks, Governor Anita Angelovska-Bezoska said during an online news conference on the central bank’s Youtube channel.
