Italian home appliances manufacturer Ariston on July 23 launched construction of a plant in Serbia’s southern city Nis, in an investment worth EUR75 million which shall open 300 jobs by the end of 2027.
The plant spanning 30,000 square meters is due for completion in December next year. It has been confirmed that the plant will initially produce heat pumps and will later add more products to its portfolio. In 2019, Ariston built a small plant in Svilajnac, central Serbia.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Economy Minister Adrijana Mesarovic, Italian Ambassador Luca Gori, and Ariston Group Executive Chairman Paolo Merloni and Chief Operating Officer Pierluigi Astorino.
Vucic said that by 2025, the plant would be exporting goods worth EUR240 million, adding he hoped that production capacity would expand in the future.
Merloni said that the company operated in 40 countries employing more than 10,000 people worldwide, adding that its revenues in 2023 amounted to more than EUR3 billion. Ambassador Gori said that laying a cornerstone of the new plant should be viewed in the light of bilateral relations between Serbia and Italy, stressing that much had been invested in Serbia-Italy relations in political and economic terms.
