Kurti Comes Out as Winner, Vucic Can Be Content

After weeks of tensions and “saber-rattling,” Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo Premier Albin Kurti reached an oral agreement on IDs late last week, mediated by the EU and supported by the U.S. The problem with IDs is one of two issues the two sides have had a dispute over for months. The other problematic issue, Pristina’s demand that owners of Serbian vehicle license plates replace them with Kosovo ones remains open and the two sides will hold negotiations on it, again with EU mediation, over the next two months.
