Aleksandar Vucic’s regime has in recent days taken a number of steps showing that it has begun to “strike back” after months of protests and blockades. Most of those moves target critics of the government, whom the regime is aiming to intimidate and silence, while some are meant for the ruling Serbian Progressive Party’s voters. The moves lead to the conclusion that Vucic is likely to turn to increasing repression if the protests start to die down.
