Vucic’s Retaliation

The regime led by Aleksandar Vucic has shown in recent days that it is serious in its intent to crack down on the parts of society that are not obedient to it. The adoption of amendments to a set of legal solutions pertaining to the judiciary, the dismissal of University of Novi Sad professor Jelena Kleut and bot attacks on the Instagram accounts of independent media outlets show that the regime has simultaneously struck at the prosecution, university and the media. The goal is to stop investigations that compromise government officials, the elimination of free-thinking professors and restricting the reach of the media that are not under the regime’s control.
