At the onset of the coronavirus outbreak, the Serbian authorities ignored the danger, focusing on an election campaign for regular parliamentary polls that should have taken place on April 26. And after the declaration of the state of emergency, they still continue to send powerful political messages. Professor Darija Kisic-Tepavcevic, deputy director of the Milan Jovanovic Batut Public Health Institute said last weekend that the earliest case of coronavirus was registered on March 1, followed by another shortly afterward, on March 3, but a mere 24 hours later she said that the dates she mentioned were “a slip of the tongue.”
