With the fall of Albin Kurti’s cabinet Kosovo has plunged into a crisis that is unlikely to be resolved without a new election. Kurti, the leader of the Self-Determination party, the strongest political group in Kosovo’s 120-seat parliament, has lost premiership after 82 MPs voted against him, 32 opposed the removal and one abstained from voting. The cabinet fell after Kurti’s coalition partner, the Democratic Alliance of Kosovo, decided to leave the coalition. The Alliance also motioned for a vote of no confidence in Kurti’s cabinet.
