Between a Rock and a Hard Place
Although more than a month has passed since the general election (June 21), Serbia still has no parliament and, consequently, no government. That would not be strange if the election results were not so convincing. The ruling Serbian Progressive Party, led by President Aleksandar Vucic, and its coalition partners won 188 of the total 250 seats in the parliament. Clearly the parliament could have been constituted a while ago and Serbia could have gotten a new government by now. The question is what this is all about, more so since after the election in Serbia, elections were also held in North Macedonia and Croatia. The results in those countries are far more diverse and complicated, but that did not stop them from forming parliaments and for Croatia to form a cabinet, too.
