The enthronement of Metropolitan Joanikije (BetaPhoto/Montenegro Government/Z.Djuric)
The events that followed the enthronement of Serbian Orthodox Church Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral Joanikije have deepened divisions in Montenegro and “inflamed passions.” Metropolitan Joanikije was enthroned in Cetinje on Sept. 5, amid hours of rioting, barricades and clashes between demonstrators and police.
